YWLA Alumni Gap Funding Application
The Foundation for the Young Women’s Leadership Academy of Fort Worth seeks to foster a relationship with its alumnae to encourage college persistence.
Who may qualify?
Graduates of the Young Women’s Leadership Academy are currently enrolled in an accredited college or university with a current financial hardship.
Students must have completed AT LEAST 1 college semester and be in good academic standing with a cumulative college GPA of 2.0 or higher.
What are the funds intended to cover?
Expenses related to college enrollment, such as textbooks, school supplies, and technology for the class.
Living expenses such as fees associated with housing, transportation, food, utility bills, and childcare.
Expenses related to graduate school admissions, such as entrance examination fees and preparatory courses for entrance exams including, but not limited to, the GRE, GMAT, MCAT, DAT, and LSAT.
*Additional financial needs may be considered.
What are the limitations of gap funding?
Awards may be given up to $1,000 per academic year.
Applications for gap funding are accepted for up to two (2) events within the YWLA academic year, for a total award of no more than $1,000 per student.
Gap funding is intended for current financial hardships and should not be applied for in lieu of financial aid/scholarship or for future financial needs (e.g., application for gap funding to help pay for next semester’s tuition, etc.).
Gap funding is not intended for tuition needs.
*One-time emergency consideration may be made on a case-by-case basis.
Please complete the application and submit it at least 4 weeks prior to your funding needs. Requests received by the 15th of every month will be discussed in that month’s Programs & Services Committee meeting.
